Recycling. It collects organic waste from several locations in the UCSB area, some of which comes from local restaurants. Students use garbage to feed worm bins, which transform this smelly food waste into a nutrient rich soil product. DPW worm castings as well as \u201cworm tea\u201d are both available for purchase by students and community members.<\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/recycling.as.ucsb.edu\/files\/2011\/11\/compost-hands-sprout.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/recycling.as.ucsb.edu\/files\/2011\/11\/compost-hands-sprout-300x239.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"239\" \/><\/a><\/h1>\n<h2>What are some benefits of using DPW castings or worm tea?<\/h2>\n<p>-Significant increase in plant growth<br \/>\n-Naturally improve plant health and stimulate early germination<br \/>\n-Return of nutrients to your existing garden<br \/>\n-Worm tea works as a natural bug repellent for your plants<br \/>\n-Contribute to a locally-run environmentally friendly organization<br \/>\n-Fresh castings are incredibly effective and inexpensive<\/p>\n<p>You can place an order by emailing Public Worms at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ucsbcompost@gmail.com\">ucsbcompost@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0or by calling the AS Recycling office at 805.893.7765.<\/p>\n<p>This year Public Worms and A.S. Recycling hosted several sustainable gardening workshops.
