Constitution &amp; By-laws. The Attorney General may also serve as an advisor to students who wish to bring a case themselves.<\/p>\n<h2>ATTORNEY GENERAL RESIGNATION<\/h2>\n<p>Attorney General Hector Contreras announced his resignation during the last Senate meeting of winter quarter. He explained his decision to resign in\u00a0the Daily Nexus:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday will be my final Senate meeting,\u201d Contreras said [at the time]. \u201cI sent in my letter of resignation a couple of weeks ago to both [A.S. Internal Vice President] Kimia [Hashemian] and [A.S. President] Jimmy Villarreal. I\u2019ve been in A.S. for two and a half years and the dynamics have certainly changed a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>AS ELECTION BRIBERY CHARGES<\/h2>\n<p>Newly-appointed A.S. Attorney General Brandon Lee announced during his first president\u2019s cabinet report that he would be launching an investigation into incentives offered by the Inter Fraternity Council (IFC) to encourage their members to vote in the AS and campus-wide elections. This investigation was the result of the Elections Board calling into question the legitimacy of the recently concluded AS election. The IFC was eventually exonerated and the election was certified by Chancellor Yang, but only after AS and UCSB Audit &amp; Advisory Services conducted thorough investigations.
