INTRODUCTION<\/h2>\n

Queer Commission (QComm) is committed to promoting the well-being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) students at UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). QComm is dedicated to collaborating with other LGBTQ organizations and non-LGBTQ organizations that address matters relevant to the larger queer community, including issues of race, gender, class, nation, and ability. QComm provides funding for LGBTQ related events and programs. These include, but are not limited to, sending student delegations to existing and emerging conferences, such as the annual Western Regional Conference and the Queer People of Color Conference; funding events at the annual UCSB Pride, such as drag shows and educational workshops; supporting QComm projects, such as the “Ask a Queer” local high school outreach program; and maintaining QComm\u2019s connection and involvement with the local Pacific Pride foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

EVENTS<\/h2>\n

Queer Comm started the year with a call for applicants to unfilled positions on the committee.<\/p>\n

Queer Town Halls<\/h3>\n

Queer Comm hosted quarterly Queer town halls. The goal of this public forum was to freely discuss LGBTQ+ issues, concerns, and opinions on and off campus.<\/p>\n

Just to give everyone a look at the scope of the issues Queer Commission addresses each year, here is the agenda for the winter quarter town hall in its entirety:<\/p>\n

Queer and\/or Trans People of Color Conference (QTPOC)<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In winter quarter Queer Comm sent a delegation to QTPOC. The conference, held at UC Riverside,\u00a0is a place where the struggles and voices of QTPOC can be shared in a safe and supportive space.<\/p>\n
