CODE serves students with temporary or permanent physical and/or mental disabilities. This year the committee continued its research into a long-range plan to create a transportation system that will serve the needs of UCSB students with either temporary or permanent disabilities. Such systems are in place at other universities and include shuttles and various other means of helping people across campus.
Working with Leg Council, CODE’s goal is to develop a proposal for a pilot project. The end goal is to create a system that will serve the entire UCSB campus, Isla Vista, and possibly even Goleta and parts of Santa Barbara. As of yet there is no projected date for the implementation of this system, but larger projects like this often take several years to plan and implement.
In the meantime, CODE will continue its work educating the campus and bringing people together socially.
