This past year, Rally Committee looked toward increasing school spirit during sporting events as well as gaining recognition around campus by students.

The committee paired with athletics a few times this past year to help out with rally events before sporting events, such as basketball games and volleyball matches. At the pre-game events, committee members had food and a DJ to capture student interest in attending the game. They also had give aways and worked on ordering hats and shirts to promote their committee throughout the school year.

In February the Rally Committee supported the UCSB Women’s Basketball Team’s Pink Zone game. Every year women’s basketball teams across the nation designate one game a Pink Zone game, where the players wear pink jerseys. The goal of the event is too increase awareness of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women after lung cancer.

In the coming year, they plan on having more events for a variety of collegiate sports teams, including ones that are not as well known, in addition to recreation sports.
