Committee on Committees

The Committee on Committees (COC) is critical to A.S. It is the committee that tracks openings on A.S. boards, commissions, and committees and is charged with making sure that these positions are filled. In addition, there are numerous other ways that students can act as advocates for students on campus and system wide committees and governing bodies, including the faculty Academic Senate.

Because of the number of groups in question and students involved, the challenges are continual throughout the year. Although most groups are stable, there are many reasons why students may not be able to complete their terms of service. In these cases COC must find suitable replacements. It’s also sometimes impossible to find students able to commit the time necessary to serve on campus or system wide committees and governing bodies.

This year COC continued the process of upgrading the COC website so that it’s easier for students to find out about open positions and know what they need to do to sign up.

The bottom line is that there are a wide range of ways students can participate in A.S. and actively address student needs both on campus and systemwide. The Committee on Committees is there to help students get connected and stay involved.
