Committee on Committees
Introduction
The Committee on Committee’s (COC) mission is to help students find out about all the opportunities waiting for them in Associated Students. With over 60 student organizations, it’s easy to find a place to get involved. On the COC website committees, boards, and groups post their openings and provide students with the details needed to apply. They welcome anyone to participate in Associated Students!
Becoming a member of an A.S. organization is essentially a three-step process. Find an organization that interests you, fill out an online application on the COC website, and wait for a COC member to contact you. Once you’re onboard the most important thing is, of course, to show up for your group’s meetings and be actively involved in the group’s activities.
COC also recruits leaders in which case those interested apply as members, but are then also interviewed to make sure they are qualified and fully understand the responsibilities of serving in a leadership role as say a committee chair or vice-chair. Leaders must also be approved by the A.S. President and the Legislative Council.
A.S. Recruitment Fair
COC hosted an A.S. Recruitment Fair on the A.S. Annex lawn during Winter Quarter. Several A.S. groups, including KCSB, Environmental Affairs Board, SCORE, Student Lobby, Queer Commission, The Bottom Line, Food Bank, Technology Services Committee, and Community Affairs Board, set up tables and provided information to passersby.
