LEGAL RESOURCE CENTER
INTRODUCTION
The mission of the AS Legal Resource Center (LRC) is to assist students in responding to legal problems that may be interfering with academic studies or otherwise adversely affecting their well-being.
An LRC attorney is available to consult with all registered UCSB students on any issue or concern in which legal education would be helpful, unless it involves the university or another UCSB student. Center attorneys offer legal advice, education, information and/or referrals , and can assist students in identifying and resolving their legal problems. An LRC Attorney can talk with students about legal matters, including, but not limited to, landlord tenant disputes, criminal citations, contracts, personal injury matters, consumer complaints, credit and debt problems, family law, traffic tickets, employment problems, and immigration. All consultations are strictly confidential.
LRC also has over 50 self-help law books written for the layperson available to consult.
EVENTS
In the course of the year, the LRC offered a variety of educational workshops in the Residence Halls and the Student Resource Building.
