THE BOTTOM LINE
Introduction
The Bottom Line is a weekly newspaper sponsored by the Associated Students of the University of California, Santa Barbara by a student-supported lock-in fee.
Created in early 2007 in response to concerns there should be multiple news sources on the UCSB campus, The Bottom Line provides a printed space for investigative journalism, culturally and socially aware commentary, and engaging reporting that addresses the diverse concerns of our readership, including UCSB and its surrounding community.
Fall Quarter
As always The Bottom Line Staff hit the ground running this year! Executive Managing Editor Cheyenne Johnson had this to say about The Bottom Line this quarter, “This past quarter, the Bottom Line continued to ensure the voices of the students, faculty, and community of UCSB and Isla Vista remain at the core of our newspaper. With a changing and growing collection of writers, photographers, and illustrators, TBL vastly improved the quality of its layout, its photographing, and its writing. Regular staff meetings and eight print issues throughout the ten week quarter allowed our staff to deeply and accurately cover the underreported events on campus and add new perspectives to commonly discussed issues. With the purchase of a new camera and plans to expand our promotions efforts, TBL aims to continue our pursuit of journalistic excellence and to provide accurate, timely, and interesting stories for the UCSB community to enjoy.”
