Investments Committee

INTRODUCTION

The Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) is the premier undergraduate investment fund at UCSB.

IAC is an undergraduate-run investment committee managing a substantial portion of student body funds on behalf of UCSB’s Associated Students (AS). The active portfolio is currently valued at $160,000. Committee members gain valuable experience in securities and portfolio management through hands-on investment analysis, discussion, and action. Operating as an arm of AS, the committee’s intent is to generate substantial returns on its investments and eventually redistribute those resources across student organizations.

The Committee also hosts and co-hosts presentations by industry professionals to educate UCSB students and foster financial industry network connections. The committee’s events feature prominent professionals within the fields of investment banking, wealth and asset management, venture capital, private equity, and more. The events range from single lecturers, to panels, presentations, and dinners with notable financial professionals. The events give UCSB students opportunities to cultivate relationships with professionals in the financial industry. In fact, several financial institutions have direct recruiting relationships with the IAC.
