The Associated Students UCSB Living History Project is a remarkable resource for anyone interested in the history of student engagement at UCSB. It also reflects student concerns more broadly, statewide, nationally, and even internationally.
Created by Living History Project Coordinator Mahader Tesfai, it’s an open-access digital history project that explores the ways in which increased UCSB students engagement with the university and surrounding community has shaped local history. Integrating images, video, audio, and text the project includes the histories of as many communities as possible. The Scalar format allows the reader to to move through the material in unique and varied ways that allows for a greater understanding of how various histories are interconnected. Currently, the content can be viewed through the 26 chapters covering a range of student initiatives and actions. In the near future readers will be able to view the material through historical themes and multiple paths interweaving the content. Click on the link above or here.
