Investments Committee

INTRODUCTION

The Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) is an entirely student-run organization that operates as an arm of the Associated Students – the UC Santa Barbara student government.  Committee members are dedicated to educating UCSB students in the areas of finance and investing.  Working with an active portfolio currently valued at $150,000, participants accumulate valuable experience in securities and portfolio management through hands-on investment analysis, discussion, and action.

The Committee also hosts and co-hosts presentations in an effort to educate UCSB students and foster financial industry network connections.  The committe’s events feature prominent professionals within the fields of investment banking, wealth and asset management, venture capital, private equity, and more.  Such events range from single lecturers, to panels, presentations, and dinners with notable financial professionals.  The events allow UCSB students the opportunity to cultivate relationships with professionals in the financial industry.

The IAC offers opportunities for students at any level of investment experience; students are encouraged to conduct research, attend weekly meetings, participate in discussion, present potential investments, and pursue portfolio management positions within the group.
